Garnett Dickinson Print - Ink 'n' Rollers Fantasy Football League
Season 2005/06
No. 3
P3 Knockout Cup
Amid much tension the Rotherham based managers in the GDP Ink 'n' Rollers Fantasy Football League looked on as the draw for the first round of the inaugural P3 Cup was made.
As is always the case in Cup competition the opportunity for a lower-placed team to outshine a high flying side is there and this draw did not disappoint
TIES
The first big tie sees third place finisher in the 2004-05 League, Steven Bailey face off against Champion Ian Fisher as Proper Bo XI take on Jaspers Revenge.
The KHL Allstars, managed by KHLís Saara Rootes will play struggling Colley United led by GDP CSR Sam and her husband.
We have an all press-room match-up as 2003-04 Champion Keith Barker leads his team, Village people, against colleague Lloyd Livingstoneís Lloydies Boyz.
SELF
Arguably the most interesting tie however matches Paul Dickins, league leader, against... Paul Dickins! At least he knows that he will have at least one team in the second round.
RESULTS
So how does this work? The competitionís First Round will be played the weekend of 5 Nov (to coincide with the FA Cup 1st Rnd). The total weekís scores as published on Nov 9 will be compared, with the team with the higher score out of the pairing
going through. In the event of a tie the lowest placed team in the league progresses.
We wish everyone all the luck in the world!

A Small reminder
There are many ways to score points in Fantasy Football. Here is a reminder of how those points should be accumulated
+2 pts for full appearance (on the pitch for the entire game)
+1 pt for part appearance (subbed on or off)
+5 pts for scoring a goal (including penalties during FA Cup shoot-outs)
+3 pts for a Key Contribution (playing a significant part in setting up a goal)
+5 pts for being the Daily Telegraph Man of the Match
+4 pts for a clean sheet (goalkeepers and defenders only)
+2 pts for a part clean sheet (not conceding a goal during a part appearance)
+5 pts for a penalty save (goalkeepers only)
-5 pts for missing a penalty (including penalty shoot-outs)
-3 pts for an own goal
-1 pt for a goal conceded (goalkeepers and defenders only)
-5 pts for being sent-off
-2 pts for being booked.
So as an example if a player in your team starts the game but is substituted after scoring twice, missing a penalty and getting booked (!) he will score;
+1 (appearing but not for the full 90mins)
+10 (2 goals)
-5 (missing the penalty)
-2 (booked)
This gives a total of 4 points.
Simple isn't it. And you don't even need to worry as it is all worked out for you. You just need to log-on on a Wednesday morning and see how you did.
Manager of the Month
It takes an inordinate amount of skill and expertise to win the coveted title of Manager of the Month. To do so requires consistent excellence and an iron will.
It is therefore my great pleasure to announce that the winner of the latest Manager of the Month Award (Oct '05), goes to none other than... me!
I may be Chairman and chief newsletter writer, but this has not detracted from me racking up more points than anyone else this month and shooting up the table in the process! My thanks go to Andy Cole and Frank Lampard for their parts in this crushing victory.
A valiant effort was also made by Mr. Roebuck who came second and Messrs Fisher and Hampstead who tied for third.
